Dhanapala udawatha entered the field of music in 4 decades early. He was Grade "A" Singer Radio/TV artist since 1980, his contribution to the field has been continuous, numerous and progressive.
He was the Sri Lankan first musician who sung a “Ranaviru Geethaya”. Dhanapala udawatha has been the recipient of numerous awards including the “Kolomthota Bushana Award (2010)”, “State Award (2013)”, “Kala Bushana Award (2013)” and other 7 Awards.
Dhanapala udawatha has sung nearly 1000 songs for Sri Lankan films. Some of the popular films that he sung were “Sathveni Dawasa” and “Jeewanthi”.
